Randy ?Razor? Petalcorin (18W-1L, 13KO's) of General Santos City will fight province-mate Jovel Romasasa in a non-title bout headlining a fight card scheduled in Iligan City on December 8, the evening before Filipinos will gather to witness the fourth fight between boxing icon Manny Pacquiao and Mexico's Juan Manuel Marquez.
Petalcorin holds the PABA light flyweight title and is a former WBC Asia continental lt.flyweight titlist. He has beaten Thai fighters Samartlek Chaiyonggym and Yodchingchai Sithkonapha for his titles. Romasasa (9W-7L, 4 KO's) has been on the losing end against prospects like Marjun Macahilig, OPBF minimumweight champ Merlito Sabillo and WBF Asia-Pacific flyweight champ Daryl Basadre.
Undefeated lightweight Harmonito Dela Torre (5W-0L, 3 KO's) will face journeyman Elmer Colve (5W-21L-2D, 2 KO's). Both Petalcorin and Dela Torre are managed by Jim Claude Manangquil of General Santos City.
Manangquil said that Dela Torre, a former national team member is ? Still raw but has all the tools of becoming a star. He is way too fast for his weight, great footwork for his weight and has tons of power but needs seasoning and to improve his defense. But he is still young and has time.?
Manangquil also stated in his e-mail message to philboxing that ?Petalcorin is looking for a WBA eliminator against WBA no.4 Wisanu Kokietgym of thailand. But I think the Thai doesn't want to fight. We are negotiating it and hopefully happens after Randy passes through this fight.?
Petalcorin is ranked number 8 in the November rankings of the World Boxing Association.
