German Agit Kabayel, 33, has been declared the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world by the World Boxing Council (WBC) after Ukrainian world champion Alexander Usyk, 39, relinquished his three remaining heavyweight titles on Friday, June 26.
WBC President Mauricio Sulaimán, from Mexico, confirmed on Saturday, June 27, in several posts that after an intense meeting, the WBC board of directors decided to declare Kabayel the undisputed world champion.
Usyk had recently defended his title against Dutchman Rico Verhoeven in Giza.
The WBC had authorized the fight between Usyk and Kabayel back in February.
