Former Costa Rican world champion Bryan “El Tiquito” Vásquez was arrested early Sunday morning, June 7, by the Costa Rican Public Force near the San Isidro de Heredia highway while traveling with another man.
Authorities confirmed the seizure of 60 grams of marijuana and approximately $2,600 USD in cash. He is being charged with drug trafficking, and the Public Prosecutor's Office will hold a court hearing to determine pretrial measures and begin the investigation.
Meanwhile, Hanna Gabriels, also a former Costa Rican world champion and Vásquez's wife, confirmed that she is following the situation closely and asked for prudence and respect before expressing criticism or drawing conclusions.
It has been learned that in Costa Rica there is no specific amount established in its laws that can determine when a person possesses marijuana for personal consumption and when it is for commercialization, which is clear in Costa Rican legislation does not set a concrete limit of grams allowed.
