DANNY Mombay and Ariela Garras ruled the Helubong 50km Uphill Ultra Challenge held last May 16 and 17 in Koronadal City.
The 32-year-old Monbay of Kidapawan City clocked four hours, 47 minutes and 19 seconds to win the men’s category.
"Finally, an Ultra Marathoner", said Mombay, who won his first Ultra.
“Actually, I stopped for them to wait because the road was deserted and there was no marshal,” said Mombay, a PNP member (Regional Legal Office 12 - Unit).
Mombay, who is assigned in PRO 12 GenSan City, estimated distance to the second placer if he didn't stop could be two or three kilometers.
“I don't run to add days to my life. I run to add life to my days,” said Mombay.
Mombay’s next race will be the Digos City to Malita 70km Ultra Marathon on June 20-21.
