Paolo Gallito and six other Filipino players advanced to the Last 16 of the TAOM Arena Open 2026 of the World Nineball Tour (WNT) organized by Matchroom Sports being held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on Sunday, May 17,2026.
Gallito secured a hard-fought- 9-7 win over countryman Carlo Biado, earning a spot in the Round of 16 which offers a total pot prizes of US$31,300.
It shall be recalled that Gallito, a billiard standout from Mandaluyong City ruled the Efren "Bata" Reyes Yalin 10-Ball Championship for his first major victory.
Gallito defeated Lee Vann Corteza of Davao City with a score of 13-12 in the thrilling final that finished past midnight August 31, 2025 at the Pacman's Cue Club in Shaw Boulevard, Mandaluyong City.
Other Filipino pool sharks who made it to the Last 16 of the TAOM Arena Open 2026 are Jeffrey de Luna, James Aranas, Jeffrey Ignacio, Valeriano Pajuay Jr., Sean Mark Malayan, and Aivhan Maluto.
De Luna triumphed over Chang Yu Lung of Taiwan, 9-8; Aranas defeated Fu Huan of Hongkong,9-8;Ignacio subdued countryman John Vincent Vicedo, 9-3; Pajuay beat another Filipino bet Jefrey Roda, 9-6; Malayan trounced Lu Hui Chan of Hongkong, 9-6; and Maluto dismantled Lee Han Qianh of Singapore, 9-2.-Marlon Bernardino-
