Teófimo moving up to welterweight?

Former world champion Teófimo López (22-2, 13 KOs) has announced his position on the opportunity to challenge for the vacant IBF super lightweight world title against Mexican prospect Lindolfo Delgado (24-0, 16 KOs) following the resignation of American champion Richardson Hitchins, who moved up to welterweight and signed a promotional contract with Zuffa Boxing.

López stated that it is difficult to maintain his position at super lightweight and that his goals are focused on the welterweight division.

López is a former world champion in two weight divisions and is coming off a loss to star Shakur Stevenson in a WBO super lightweight world title fight on January 31 at Madison Square Garden.
