Canoy banking on his ring experience against Kuse

Joey Canoy.

JOEY “The Babyface” Canoy of General Santos City is confident that he has the edge of experience against his opponent Siyakolwa Kuse of South Africa.

The 32-year-old Canoy will face Kuse in a title-eliminator with the winner get to challenge WBC World minimumweight champion Melvin “El Gringo” Jerusalem of Bukidnon.

The fight is set on March 28 in South Africa.

“Excited to get back to fighting for the title. It’s an eliminator and possibly a world championship,” said Canoy [24-5-2, 15KOs].

In his last fight, Canoy stopped Minh Phat Sam in the 10th round to win the WBC International last April 27 in Gensan.

“He [Kuse] has an advantage in height. He also has an advantage because of his hometown,” said Canoy.

The 22-year-old Kuse [9-3-1, 4KOs] recently lost to Jerusalem by a unanimous decision for the WBC World minimumweight title last October 29 at the Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.
