Allan Villanueva vs. Jyl Wright, a bout for Peter Maniatis Events, will take place on October 3rd at the Q Room in Melbourne, Australia. Both boxers weighed in at 66.00 kg today, October 2nd, in Melbourne.
Allan Villanueva started his professional boxing career as an 11-0 boxer before he lost a close points decision to Carlo Bacaro. He then suffered losses to the highly-rated Albert Pagara, according to Australia Hall of Fame Promoter Peter Maniatis.
Since arriving in Australia and being based out of Sydney, Villanueva has fought Wyllie, Spaull, Pizzi, and Mattar, and has always gone the distance.
Opponent Jyl Wright's record stands at 8 wins and 2 losses. His defeats came against Victor Nagbe and Winston Hill.
“Wright is a good boxer, and Allan Villanueva is a very experienced, tough, typical Filipino boxer. This will be a competitive, entertaining bout to watch,” said Promoter Peter Maniatis.
Also on the card, Ky Hodgson and Terry Nickolas will be fighting for a WBC Australasia title at super welterweight.
WBC #17 Victor Nagbe will also be fighting an Indian rated boxer, Singh (12 wins, 2 losses).
Undefeated David Padovan will be fighting former Fiji Champion James Singh for a WBC Australasia title at Bridgerweight.
WBA Gold World Champion Linn Sandstrom will also be fighting on the Peter Maniatis card, defending her WBA Oceania title against Thailand's Wirunpat.
The event will be screened on the Kombatants streaming platform on October 3rd, starting at 5:00 PM Manila time, said Promoter Peter Maniatis.
The event is sponsored by the Sydney restaurant Big Fat Greek in Campbelltown, Sydney, which is owned by Peter.
There is also a thank you to Glen Aristides and Kamil Syed, who are matching the bouts.
