BANTAMWEIGHT Aljum “Nightmare” Pelesio of El Salvador, Misamis Oriental will fight against Bonjun Loperez of Davao City on May 14 at The Flash Grand Ballroom of the Elorde Sports Complex, Paranaque City.
It is the first 10-rounder for Pelesio, who has a record of 10 wins, one loss and five knockouts.
“I'm just ready. I’m still 126 pounds and will fight at 118 to 119,” said the 23-year-old Pelesio.
He has now been sparring with reigning Orient and Pacific Boxing Federation (OPBF) flyweight Giemel “Pistolero” Magramo (25-2-0, 20KOs) of Paranaque City and Roland Jay Biendima (16-11-1, 8KOs) of General Santos City.
“I’ve been consistent with my sparring, not absent,” said Pelesio.
He also sparred before with Jetro Pabustan (30-9-6, 9KOs), Robin Langres (10-4-0, 4KOs) and Jason Buenaobra (8-6-3, 3KOs).
Pelecio has recently beat Fernan Agencia of Mandaluyong City by a unanimous decision last February 12, 2022 at the Quirino Stadium in Bantay, Ilocos Sur.
Pelesio tasted his lone defeat against Lienard Sarcon by a majority decision in the finals of Ultimate Boxing Series (UBS) bantamweight tournament held last August 25, 2019 at TV5 Studio in Novaliches, Quezon City.
Loperez, on the other hand, lost to Orlie Silvestre by a unanimous decision last February 27, 2021 in his last fight at Bula Gym in General Santos City.
He has 12 wins, 15 loses, one draw and six knockouts.
The Pelesio-Loperez fight is the main event promoted by Cucus Elorde of UKC Pro Boxing Edition. Matchmaker is Edmundo Dellosa.
