JAKE Amparo defeated Roldan Sasan to win the vacant World Boxing Foundation Asia Pacific minimumweight title last April 23 at the Dauis Gym in Dauis, Bohol.
The 24-year-old Amparo downed Sasan once in the early round. They engaged in a toe-to-toe fight.
But Amparo got the advantage with his in-and-out style in jabbing Sasan.
Judges Edwin Barrientos and Noel Flores both scored 99-90 while Rey Caitom saw it 100-89 all in favor of Amparo.
“I am very happy now. I have taken my dream, that's probably the first step if there is any from the next,” said Amparo.
He thanked his manager Floriezyl Podot and coaches Ricky Siesmondo, Paul Gentallan, Nino Jalnaiz and Edcel Burlas.
Amparo, who will now remain training at the PMI Boxing Gym in Bohol, is now eight wins, three loses, one draw with two knockouts.
Sasan, 23, has eight wins, three loses and three knockouts.
