Laurel stops Saulong in the 4th round, wins vacant WBC Orient super bantamweight title

DAVAO CITY -- Alie "Demolition Man" Laurel of Gen. Santos City scored a 4th round technical decision against Ernesto "Chocolate" Saulong of Mindoro Occidental to win the vacant World Boxing Organizational Oriental super bantamweight title last Nov. 10 at the Southern Quezon Convention Center in Gumaca, Quezon.

It was Laurel's 3rd straight win since he made a comeback in 2019.

The 27-year old Laurel stopped fighting in 2016 after he settled a split draw with Joe Noynay of Cebu in Pasay City.

Laurel now has 17 wins with 10 knockouts against four loses and one draw, while the 30-year old Saulong suffered his sixth defeat against his 22 wins and two draws.

Meanwhile, Junuel "Astroboy" Lacar and Jose Roda Jr. scored contrasting wins to win the vacant LuzProBA titles.

Lacar (8W-5L-3D, 6KO) of Gensan TKO'd Romeo Tenorio (7W-4L-2D, 4KO) of Sarangani in the 4th round to win LuzProBA flyweight title.

Roda (6W-1L-2D, 1KO) made a majority decision against Ador Torres (3W-2L-1D) of Sorsogon to win the LuzProBA super lightweight title.
